K-pop fans have short attention spans, especially the ones that pledge their devotion to YG Entertainment, so I understand why BIGBANG decided to release their MADE album as four separate double A-side singles, one per month, until the full album is available.
When BIGBANG compared their then upcoming single "Bang Bang Bang" to their 2012 mega-hit, "Fantastic Baby" before calling the excellent "Bae Bae" and "Loser" 'appetizers' before the 'main course,' I knew I probably wasn't going to love their next offering.
BIGBANG is the musical equivalent of a great big Oscar-winning Hollywood epic. The veteran boy band is a slick, commercial, all-star product that never risks alienating the public with anything too artsy or alternative, but they're not exactly your typical shallow Michael Bay product either.
I try to make it a point of hating almost all things YG, especially when it involves the drowsy human Jigglypuff Lee Hi or will.i.am's recycling bin G-Dragon, but I've somehow fallen in love with the Hi Suhyun unit AND that damn GD X TAEYANG.
