Janelle Monae is everything and she has been since the first Metropolis EP dropped. She will likely continue being everything for the forseeable future and beyond. This is a simple fact that cannot be argued, so don't even try come for Janellegend Monet's luscious weave or you'll be staring down the barrel of Duke Nukem's shotgun.
For the most part, I tend to stay away from a lot of the really commercially-successful K-indie music because it almost always falls into one of two categories: folksy, coffee shop acoustic pop, or emo, coffee shop acoustic hip-hop. I do love a few of the big stars of the genre like 10cm and Busker Busker, but usually avoid the ones I see at the top of the charts, so it wasn't until last week that I finally gave a Lim Kim a chance and was pleasantly surprised to find out that she's actually kind of really good.
Robin Thicke is one of those artists that likes to pretend they're only in it for the music and all that shit, but he's really just as hit hungry as every other bitch on the charts right now, which is why I have no problem with him pushing the blue eyed soul stuff aside to record a trashy Dr. Luke track like "Give It 2 U."
DJ and producer, Duke Dumont, had a huge hit this year with "Need U (100%)," which deservingly topped the UK singles chart in April. The A*M*E-assisted single was co-penned by MNEK, who steps up his contributions on Dumont's latest song, "Hold On," as the official guest vocalist.
In case you couldn't tell, I'm back on #TeamCiCi. I have been since "Body Party" took off and Cisus scored the cover of The Fader, therefore making her cool again after her dusty outdated ass spent the last couple years as the major of Pleasantville.
