Nicole Jung‘s MAMA mini-album was a huge flop in Korea, but I thought it was a spectacular life-changing effort that surpassed BoA, Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, and Lee Hyori combined. (Slight exaggeration.)

Nicolegend’s now preparing to debut as a soloist in Japan, with her first single set for release on June 24 through her new Japanese agency, Victor Entertainment.

She performed one of her new J-pop songs, “Something Special,” at the recent KCON Japan concert–and it was fucking amazing!!!

(The performance that I originally posted has been pulled, but you can hear a low quality live rip of the track below.)

I don’t know if it’s the A-side or the B-side (probably the A judging by this), but I do know that it’s a future classic in the making that will probably bring Utada Hikaru out of retirement after she realizes that Nicole is surpassing her legacy.

Words can’t express how happy I am that Nicole is still pushing this Sweetune sound while the current incarnation of KARA is preparing a total revamp. It’s like the best of both worlds. She’s even following the exact formula that KARA used to by doing edgier stuff in Korea, and cuter concepts in Japan.

Kween Nicole.
