As soon as you know that Jonghyun collaborated with Zion.T on a song called “Déjà-Boo”, you already know exactly what you’re going to get: public-friendly synthesized R&B and funk with rich, silky smooth pantie-dropping vocals.
But just because the surprise is ruined, doesn’t mean the song is any less impactful on the first play.
“Déjà-Boo” is both everything you expected it to be, and everything you wanted it to be.
Also, how did it take the world so long to think of turning Déjà vu into Déjà-Boo? It seems so obvious once you hear it, like the kind of song title that Usher would release as his lead single, or Justin Timberlake would use as a Target-exclusive bonus track on one of his albums.
“Déjà-Boo” has already topped Melon’s real-time chart (dethroning EXID), which doesn’t surprise me. Although I’m hoping that this is the mainstream single from the SHINee star’s solo album, and that the upcoming “Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)” is one of SM Entertainment’s typically polarizing genre-bending tracks with some kind of weird sexy art-pop concept that highlights Jongie’s hot power bottom body.
Anyway, take a listen to my eternal boo JoJo The Dino Beauty singing “Déjà-Boo” below.
