It’s been way too long since I posted on Moxiie, which is fucking crazy considering just how good her recent music has been.
Following the brooding “Anyway,” Moxiie returned recently with what is probably her best single yet, “Jilted.”
Produced by Fredro, who’s worked with my Asian pop faves like Wonder Girls, Namie Amuro, and TVXQ, as well as the Sugababes back before they went to shit, “Jilted” is the kind of pop song that hits the mark on every level: introspective and poetic lyrics that are still relatable, commercial production that isn’t generic, a powerful, emotionally-charged vocal performance, and one seriously huge, hit-worthy hook.
I’m not trying to be a contrarian here and I’m not gonna name names, but c’mon, “Jilted” is WAY better than a lot of the big hits on the Hot 100 right now. If you don’t agree, then you can go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done and where your life is headed.
Also, the music video opens with a line from Apocalypse Now, which is almost as cool as the amazing animation that follows it.
