Brown Eyed Girls’ greatest hits collection has arrived! Although “L.O.V.E.” is conspicuously absent from the otherwise flaw-free tracklist, in its place is a brand new banger from the guy that brought you “Gangnam Style,” “Hush.”
“Hush” picks up where “Mystery Survivor” left off, with similarly progressive, hard-hitting house production that’s hard to pin down as one thing. They’ve just thrown a little more funk and ’90s Stonebridge-esque synths into the pot this time, which makes “Hush” sound both modern and like a vintage throwback at once.
BEG’s return to EDM feels like an intentional nod back to their signature hit, “Abracadabra.” “Hush” obviously doesn’t measure up to “Abracadabra,” or even BEG’s main title tracks, but it doesn’t have to. It’s just a new song tacked onto a Best Of album, so in that context it’s pretty satisfying.
It would’ve been nice to get a proper music video, though. And some actual cover art. And maybe some music program performances…
Nega Network, what the fuck is wrong with you not promoting Brown Eyed Girls properly? “Hush” is No. 14 on Melon and it’s just a random greatest hits cut. Don’t you see how popular these broads are, and how much they’d STILL be slaying if they had the right support behind them?
Just let Loen Tree buy you out and call it a day.
