So many basics bet their money on Prism or ARTPOP snatching all the santa hats this holiday season, but it’s dark horse Kelegend ClarksoNelsonMandela whose actually sitting at the top of the charts this Christmas.
The undisputed best voice on earth and the entire universe is currently No. 1 on iTunes with Wrapped In Red, while her female pop contemporaries are nowhere to be found in the top five. The closest is Lorde’s Pure Heroine at No. 7, and Britney’s just-released Britney Jean at No. 10.
Kelly’s Xmas single, “Underneath The Tree,” recently dethroned Katy Perry’s “Roar” as the No. 1 song on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, and is now climbing up the main iTunes chart (it’s currently No. 42).
Wrapped In Red has already sold 366,000 copies worldwide, and is predicted to sell another 100k+ in the States this week. Kelly’s star-studded holiday special, Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale, is set to air on NBC on December 11, which will probably give Wrapped In Red it’s biggest sales week to date — possibly big enough to make it top the Billboard 200 next week.
Oh, and Kelly is also now happily married and expecting her first child with the love of her life.
