I was so happy when Sky Ferreira got done for heroin possession last week. She was finally getting the amount of press she deserved, which can only benefit the upcoming release of her long-awaited debut album, Night Time, My Time (due October 29). I don’t care if she’s half-dead and smacked-out of her brain; if it takes a dope addiction to get Sky some recognition, then that’s just how it’s gotta be.
If there’s any song right now that deserves (and forcefully demands) attention, it’s “You’re Not The One.” The new wave-y rock number pulls from the best bits of the ’70s and ’80s and packs a guitar riff that’s more intoxicating than chasing the dragon. Sky steps back in time for the official music video, too, which details a bad romance under strobe lights and plays like an intentional pastiche of movies and music videos from the ’80s and ’90s.
I feel bad for raving about that catchy new Cher Lloyd single when I really should’ve just saved up all my stanning energy for this, because it’s fucking incredible. It makes me wanna put a lighter to a spoon and just bliss out for a while.
