In August 2003, Madonna –the undisputed Queen of Pop– kissed Britney Spears and some other chick at the MTV VMAs, resulting in one of the most controversial and iconic performances in the history of popular music. Two months later, Madge officially crowned Britney as her successor by featuring on The Holy Spearit’s single, “Me Against The Music.”
Now, exactly a decade later, the crown is about to passed down once again.
Earlier today, Miley Cyrus finally confirmed the long-standing rumours that Britney will feature on a track from her forthcoming LP, Bangerz.

I know that Lady Gaga was briefly considered Britney’s successor with the iconic meat dress and the VMAs performances and all those Rolling Stone covers, but what are you gonna do? Britney has spoken! And by “Britney” I mean “Larry Rudolph,” since he also manages Milegend and clearly concocted this whole thing while slipping a near-lethal dose of OxyContin, Valium, Quaaludes, and Xanax into Godney’s morning grits (as he’s done every day since February 1st, 2008).
facts jokes aside, Miley taking the torch from Britney feels so natural that it may as well be written in the stars. They’re both former Disney good girls gone bad from the Dirty South, and just like Britney back in her heyday, Miley’s a tabloid target who’s best known for being scandalous and wearing no clothes.
Yup, Milegend’s the new Godney. Deal with it. And if you still can’t admit it, here’s some extra proof I’ve compiled while alternating between plays of Can’t Be Tamed and In The Zone on Spotify.
