Mademoiselle Yulia Harajuku Wander

Japanese style icon, Mademoiselle Yulia, made the jump from DJ to underground pop star in 2011 with the release of her awesome Mademoworld album. She’s since aligned herself with the Jeremy Scott/ clique (even starring in CL’s “The Baddest Female” music video), and despite releasing a lone digital single last year, most of her efforts have been focused on her career as a professional fashionista. Thankfully, the J-pop gods have seen fit to steer Yulia back to music, and come September 18, she’ll release her sophomore album, Harajuku Wander.

The first single (also titled “Harajuku Wander”) drops on August 28, but a 50-second music video for it was unveiled today.

The busy electro-pop number is far more generic than the Blondie-esque New Wave of “Gimme Gimme,” which I guess is what happens when you start hanging out with I get, though: Yulia’s a DJ with a growing international profile, and she probably wants some more club-friendly tunes of her own that she can play at big parties. Mademoworld was a pretty diverse record that wasn’t defined by its lead single, and I imagine we’ll be able to say the same about Harajuku Whatever when it comes out.

Now for the important part: the fashion! Yulia looked ferocious from head to fucking toe, which is no surprise after seeing the long list of designers mentioned in the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it credits of the mini-video. I need CL to drop the dead weight in 2NE1 already and just form a hipster fashion-pop duo with Yulia. They could sing in Japanese, Korean, and English, and basically dominate the entire world.

Mademoiselle CL!
