Mutya Keisha Siobhan Flatline Music Video

After carefully dissecting Mutya Keisha Siobhan’s “Flatline,” I’ve now come up with a treatment for the music video. MKS should definitely use it, because no matter what they come up with, it won’t top my video.

I urge you to listen to “Flatline” as you read this, so you can accurately visualize the video in your head and match the corresponding scenes with the music.

Artist: Mutya Keisha Siobhan

Song: “Flatline” (Polydor Records)

Length: 3:60

Starring: MKS (Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan) and Sugababes (Heidi, Amelle, Jade).

Setting: Gloomy London on a rainy winter’s day.

Plot outline: We follow Heidi, Amelle, and Jade separately as they each experience the day from hell and feel a flatline where there oughta be a wave. Heidi’s just gotten married to a cheating scoundrel, Jade encounters trouble on her way to an audition, and Amelle confronts some haters while getting pissed at the pub.

Begin

00:00 – 00:20 – Heidi’s at her wedding reception, looking sad at the bridal table as she stares at her husband flirting with one of her bridesmaids on the dance floor, who just so happens to be a very attractive Amy Childs lookalike.

00:20 – 00:36 – A flustered Jade, who is dressed as a waitress and looks like she just finished work, runs down a hallway to her crummy apartment and sees an “evicted” sign stuck on her door. She tries to get inside but can’t because the locks have been changed. Frustrated, she looks down at her old Nokia 6110 and sees a text message that reads, “Don’t be late for your audition!

00:36 – 1:06 – Amelle downs a shot of tequila in a dimly-lit karaoke bar. She looks both depressed and annoyed as she wipes her mouth and glances over to see a group of girls snickering and staring her way. MKS can be seen on stage in the background singing the “Flatline” chorus together.

1:06 – 1:14 –  Jade runs down the stairs of her apartment and out the front door towards the bus stop. She’s visibly panicked and clearly in a hurry.

1:14 – 1:43 – Heidi, still at the bridal table, stands up. Everyone around her is laughing and in their own world, oblivious to her pain. Her new husband and the slutty bridesmaid are still on the dance floor, giggling and grinding against each other like they’re having the time of their lives. Heidi looks both brokenhearted and enraged as she witnesses the shocking scene, all while the wedding band, MKS, sings in the background.

1:43 – 2:00 – Amelle buries her head in her hands at the bar for a few seconds, before flinging her head back and looking to the sky. She wipes away a single tear as she looks back at the girls, who are now laughing hysterically and pointing her way. She clenches her fists and gets up from her stool, then starts marching towards their table.

2:00 – 2:14 – Jade races to the bus stop just as the bus pulls away. She cries out for it to stop as the rain pours down, soaking her from head to toe, but it’s too late. MKS can be seen singing solemnly in the background, safe from the rain under their umbrellas.

2:14 – 2: 50 – (semi slow-motion montagey bit) Heidi is pushing through the guests on the dance floor as she heads towards her husband. Amelle is yelling and throws a drink at the catty girls before lunging towards them. Jade drops to her knees on the street and screams at the heavens as lighting flashes and rain pours down. Heidi shoves the bitch bridesmaid out the way and starts slow-mo screaming at her husband and shaking him. Amelle is attacking the group of girls as the bartender runs over to pull her off them. Jade is crumpled on the sidewalk crying out as people nonchalantly walk by and go about business as usual.

2:50 – 3:10 – Several guests pull Heidi off her husband. She pushes them aside and runs for the front door to escape with her dress hiked up and tears streaming down her face. The bartender has a hold of Amelle and hurls her out onto the street, before slamming the door shut behind her. Jade manages to get back on her feet, and then starts running down the street.

3:10 – 3:27 – All three Sugababes are now running dramatically down their respective streets, all of which happen to intersect at the same crossroad.

3:27 – 3:60 – Heidi, Amelle, and Jade stop and stare at each other. They’re all soaking wet and disheveled, with defeated expressions on their faces. The scene fades to black as the song ends. A new scene fades in: We now see three women with their backs to the camera, all holding hands and standing in a dewy meadow that glistens in the morning sun. The women are walking forward as CGI flowers bloom around them, and although we can’t see their faces, we can tell that it’s Mutya, Keisha, and Siobhan.

End video.
